It's been a wild ride

Friends, I'm not MIA but I have been delayed for a while. Those that read this blog know that I've talked about for some time that I know something is not quite right with my health. Simply, I don't feel good and I get sick easy.

I've been going to the Dr's office for seven months now complaining of chest pains, nausea and weakness. On my last visit to the GI, I was referred to a heart specialist. The heart specialist told me that he felt a stress test would be inconclusive so he recommend a heart cath; I quickly agreed. November 21st was the scheduled day and the procedure went well except for the diagnosis. I was told I had 99% blockage in two arteries and severe blockage and two others. I would have emergency open heart surgery within the hour.

So, here we are three weeks later. My strength is returning and I've been cleared by my surgeon to begin heart rehab. It's only because of God's mercy and grace I'm here today. I'm one of the lucky ones who actually made it to the surgery table. I have since found out that my birth Dad had three brothers die of heart disease; it turns out my condition is hereditary which is what the Dr. said it looked to be.

There is the long road ahead of rehabilitation, the chest healing and the body getting it's strength back; but I'm up to the task. You won't see much from me in the next several months because I'm going to focus on my health and well being. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and remember, take care of your self. DeanO

PS, did you know that heart disease is the number one killer in America. I believe fast food has changed the health of America. Just say "NO" to the big mac sandwich. Mercy, heaven knows I enjoy hamburgers!

Thankfully you got help before it went horrendously wrong. I think that's why we all finally started running, the stronger the heart is, the better our chances are to stay healthy...

... and so we could still eat meat every once and a while.

Feel better!

Glad they caught it in time. My hubby had a heart attack in the late spring. He had 99% blockage of an artery. The doctor who put in his stent said that if he hadn't gone to the hospital when he did and instead try to 'sleep' off the pain, he wouldn't have woken up.....

I'd noticed your silence; I should have asked. My apologies for not doing so. I'll be praying for you.

I'm so glad you and the docs got this figured out and corrected. As I'm sure many more are too. And you were working 12 a day?? Wow.

All the best !

I've been gone for quite awhile now Deano and I'm sorry to hear about your health problems. It is scary I know.
I had the blockage (over 90%) in my carotid last Jan. Had to have it cleaned out after my ninth mini stroke. Not fun at all but it does make one aware of one's health.
Sometime we need that kick in the butt and I thank God you are better.
I pray that your recovery and rehabilitation go well my friend.
Make it a Happy New Year right?
Love Di ♥
